2017: Ex-footballer Emile Heskey ordered to pay £194,794.42 in legal fees to HMRC over unpaid £1.637M tax bill.

Former English footballer Emile Heskey has been ordered to pay £194,794.42 (€230,000) in legal fees after a legal battle with Britain's HM Revenue and Customs. HMRC took legal action against Heskey in 2017 over an unpaid tax bill worth £1.637 million. At a hearing in London, a specialist costs judge ruled the sum was "reasonable and proportionate" in the "complex" case. Heskey did not attend the hearing and was not represented.
