Danish shipping firm Maersk raises full-year 2024 profit forecast to $7-$9 billion due to Red Sea disruptions impacting global supply lines.

Danish shipping firm Maersk raised its full-year profit forecast for 2024 to $7-$9 billion due to disruptions in the Red Sea, which are impacting global supply lines. This marks the second profit forecast raise by Maersk in a month, as attacks in the Red Sea have led to a decrease in container line transits through the Suez Canal by 80%. Maersk also sees signs of increasing port congestions in Asia and the Middle East, causing freight rates to rise.
