CFPB establishes a public registry for nonbank financial companies violating consumer laws.

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) has finalized a rule establishing a public registry to identify nonbank financial companies that violate consumer laws and are subject to federal, state or local government or court orders. The registry aims to help law enforcement across the US identify and stop repeat offenders and is part of CFPB Director Rohit Chopra's mission to focus on repeat wrongdoing in and outside the banking industry.
