4-year-old Xyaire Askew was fatally struck by a pickup truck in Avalon Park, Chicago on Sunday evening. The driver was cited for failure to yield while attempting to turn right onto South Harper Avenue from East 82nd Street. The boy was playing with relatives when he ran into the street and was later pronounced dead at Comer Children's Hospital. An ongoing investigation by the Chicago Police Major Accidents Investigations Unit continues.
