Sonia and Rahul Gandhi honored Kalaignar M. Karunanidhi, former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, on his centenary birth anniversary. Karunanidhi began his political career in 1953 and served as Chief Minister from 1969 until his death in 2018. The Gandhis expressed their gratitude for meeting him and acknowledged his contributions to Tamil Nadu and India, including promoting social justice, economic equality, and defending Tamil culture.
