Japan's weather agency reported a 5.9-magnitude earthquake hit the Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa Prefecture on June 3, with no tsunami warning issued. Another 4.8-magnitude earthquake occurred minutes later. No tsunami warning was issued after the previous 7.6-magnitude earthquake on January 1, which killed over 230 people.
