Officer Vicente Ortiz, a 15-year veteran of Corpus Christi Police Department, died after being struck by a vehicle while escorting a funeral procession on May 21. Ortiz had been conducting traffic control when he was hit and thrown off his motorcycle. The officer, who leaves behind a wife and two children, was seen as a great husband, father, son, brother, friend, and co-worker.
