Labour plans to reform apprenticeships to tackle skills gaps and decrease migration, according to shadow home secretary Yvette Cooper and shadow education secretary Bridget Phillipson. The party will revise the apprenticeship levy to address the skills gap and reduce reliance on overseas recruitment. Cooper states that the current migration system is broken, with engineering apprenticeships halving while visas doubled.
