Meta, parent company of Facebook and Instagram, removed over 17 million pieces of content violating policies in India during April, including 11.6 million on Facebook and 5.4 million on Instagram. The actions were taken in response to 17,124 and 12,924 reports received through the Indian grievance mechanism for Facebook and Instagram, respectively. Under the new IT Rules 2021, the company must publish monthly compliance reports for platforms with over 5 million users.
