A study from Lincoln Park Zoo reveals that low-income Chicago neighborhoods have around five fewer mammal species compared to wealthier areas. The disparity in wildlife is greater in Chicago than in other cities, with the availability of urban habitats playing a significant role. Residents such as Mark Weitekamper in West Ridge enjoy diverse wildlife, but many do not have access to similar spaces in their neighborhoods.
