Kerala faces landslides, flooding as monsoon intensifies; IMD issues red alert for 3 districts The Southwest monsoon has intensified in Kerala, causing heavy downpours to hit several parts of the state, including southern and central districts. This has resulted in landslides, waterlogging, and uprooted trees. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for the central district of Thrissur and northern districts of Malappuram and Kozhikode, warning of heavy to extremely heavy rain of over 20 cm in 24 hours. An orange alert was also issued for Idukki, Palakkad, and Wayanad, with a yellow alert issued for six other districts.
