Double murderer Yousef Palani, serving two life sentences for the murders in Sligo, attacked a prison officer in Portlaoise, resulting in the officer being hospitalized. Palani was moved to Portlaoise Prison from Mountjoy due to disciplinary offenses and an attack by inmates earlier this year. He is now being 'barrier-handled' by prison staff in riot gear.
