Canada declares June as National Indigenous History Month, supporting Indigenous culture resurgence.

Ministers celebrate June as National Indigenous History Month, honouring the rich and diverse histories and cultures of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples. Despite historical challenges, including banning cultural celebrations and forcing Indigenous children to speak only English or French, there is a resurgence of Indigenous languages, art, culture, and ways of thinking. The Government of Canada remains committed to supporting and partnering with Indigenous communities during this resurgence.
