39-year-old Democratic candidate John Eric Childs, who sought South Carolina House of Representatives District 6 seat, was killed in a car crash on Augusta Road near Lickville Road in Pelzer, Greenville County. Childs, a combat veteran and father, was running alongside his wife, Jessicka Spearman, who is also a political candidate. The cause of the accident remains unknown, pending investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
