Women are choosing to pay up to £8,000 for private midwives due to dissatisfaction with NHS care. The Portland Hospital in London, the only private maternity hospital in the UK, has reported an increase in expectant mothers choosing their services. This follows a report from MPs this month which found women in labour have been mocked, ignored, and left with permanent damage by NHS midwives and doctors.
