UK enacts law to monitor price gouging for petrol and diesel, targeting high prices and retailer margins.

UK recently enacted a law to monitor price gouging at petrol and diesel stations. The Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act aims to lower prices and end high retailer margins on refuelling. The UK has the highest diesel prices in Europe and some of the steepest petrol prices, with the average cost of a litre of petrol at 149p and diesel at 155p, exceeding European averages of 144p and 134p.
