1st potential measles case in northern Ontario in 2024 under investigation in Sioux Lookout infant.
The Northwestern Ontario Health Unit is investigating a probable measles case in an infant in Sioux Lookout, marking the first potential case in northern Ontario in 2024. Since January 1, 2024, Public Health Ontario has reported 23 measles cases across nine public health units, none in northern Ontario. If confirmed, this case would be the first in the region in at least 25 years. The health unit has organized a vaccination clinic for those concerned about potential exposure.
