Two North Alabama men, Brian Bowman and Jason Akin, were sentenced for their involvement in a series of multi-million dollar healthcare fraud and kickback conspiracy cases. Bowman, 42, received 96 months in prison, and Akin, 46, was sentenced to 42 months. Both men were involved in schemes to generate unnecessary prescriptions and tests, and receive kickbacks for doing so. Dozens of defendants have been convicted in related healthcare fraud cases.
