The end of pandemic aid for US schools threatens the continuity of many after-school programs, putting 4 million more students at risk of losing access. The Afterschool Alliance analyzed 6,300 school districts that spent at least $8.1 billion in ESSER funds on after-school and summer programs. As these funds are set to end, schools will need to find diverse funding sources but may not be able to fully match the support previously provided by federal aid.
