Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird announced the resumption of emergency contraception funding for victims of sexual assault, ending the rare practice of reimbursing victims for abortions. This decision follows a 17-month review initiated after Bird took office in January 2023. The state will continue to reimburse Plan B contraceptive costs through victim assistance funds, while prohibiting the use of public funds for abortion reimbursements.
