Ghana's electricity and water tariffs to increase by 5.84% and 5.16% respectively from 1 July 2024, per PURC, due to currency depreciation and high fuel.

Ghana's Public Utility Regulatory Commission (PURC) has announced a 5.84% increase in electricity rates for residential consumers, effective July 1, 2024. Lifeline consumers will see a 3.45% increase, while non-residential and industrial customers will experience a 3.45% and 4.92% rise, respectively. Additionally, water tariffs will increase by 5.16% for all customer classes during the same period. The changes are attributed to the depreciation of the local currency and high fuel costs.
