49-year-old Gary Stephen Maynard, a former criminology professor, has been sentenced to over five years in prison for setting four fires in California during the Dixie Fire, one of the largest wildfires in state history. Maynard pleaded guilty to three counts of arson on federal property and will pay $13,000 in restitution. In addition to his prison sentence, he will serve three years of supervised release.
