Teamsters Union pushes Governor J.B. Pritzker to sign Illinois' Worker Freedom of Speech Act, banning mandatory "captive audience" meetings with anti-union propaganda.
Teamsters Union is urging Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker to sign Senate Bill 3649, also known as the Illinois Worker Freedom of Speech Act, which would ban mandatory attendance at employer-sponsored "captive audience" meetings filled with anti-union propaganda. The bill passed both chambers of the state legislature following a grassroots campaign by the Teamsters and other unions. If signed, the legislation would protect workers' rights to opt out of such meetings without facing repercussions. Similar legislation has already been adopted in Connecticut, Oregon, Maine, Minnesota, and New York.
