Nine arrests were made under Operation Manta Ray, which targeted large-scale drug cultivation, a significant source of income for criminal groups. The operation in Āwhitu is believed to be one of the largest in the Counties Manukau Police district. The enforcement action is expected to have a significant impact on organised crime.
