HSE agrees to €1.14m High Court settlement for birth-related autism case at University Maternity Hospital Limerick.

The HSE agreed to pay €1.14m over five years as part of a High Court settlement over a boy's birth circumstances. The boy, diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, experienced developmental delay and non-verbal communication. His mother's case alleged he was deprived of air during birth at University Maternity Hospital Limerick in 2018, leading to hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy. The HSE denied the claims but agreed to the settlement.
