4-5 foot nonnative Asian water monitor lizard spotted in Florida by driver, reported to FWC.
A Florida driver spotted a large lizard, later identified as a nonnative monitor lizard, on the side of the road in Charlotte County. The 4-5 foot creature resembled an alligator, but the driver noticed its lizard tongue and called the Florida Wildlife Commission to report the sighting. The FWC believes the lizard could be an Asian water monitor.
