New study suggests statins may prevent cancer by blocking an inflammatory protein. Statins, commonly used cholesterol-lowering drugs, may block a particular pathway involved in the development of cancer that results from chronic inflammation, according to a study published in Nature Communications. Senior author, Professor Shawn Demehri, said, "Chronic inflammation is a major cause of cancer worldwide."
