South Korea aims to make a Mars landing by 2045 and plans to spend 100 trillion won ($72.6 billion) on space exploration. The country has launched its first space agency, Korea Aerospace Administration (KASA), to lead the space economy and foster a competitive space and aerospace industry. KASA aims to land a homegrown probe on the moon by 2032 and plant the Taegeukgi (South Korean flag) on Mars by 2045.
