Michigan agrees to spend $4.75M to restore 1,900 Flint homes after lead pipe replacements.
The state of Michigan has agreed to spend millions to restore 1,900 homes in Flint after water pipes were replaced, but the properties were left in a mess. In 2014, a water switch in Flint led to lead contamination in the drinking water system, requiring over 10,000 lead or steel pipes to be replaced. The state will manage the work being conducted by the city's contractors, including payment of additional funds. The balance of the work is estimated to cost over $4.75 million.
