Delhi LG seeks maximum punishment for social activist Medha Patkar in 2001 defamation case.
Delhi LG Vinai Saxena seeks maximum punishment (two-year jail term or fine or both) for social activist Medha Patkar in a defamation case filed against her in 2001. Patkar was convicted by the Saket court on May 24th. The next hearing is scheduled for June 7th, where the court will decide on the sentence. Saxena's lawyer argued that an example must be set by imposing the maximum punishment due to a repeat offence of the same nature.
