British tourists have been warned of a plague of 'monster ticks' spreading across popular European holiday destinations, including Spain, the Balearic Islands and southern Italy. These ticks, known as Hyalomma lusitanicum, are four times larger than normal ticks and can carry deadly diseases such as Crimean-Congo fever. Scientists have reported a recent increase in the ticks' numbers, raising concerns about the risks they pose to human health in Europe.
