34-year-old French tennis star Alize Cornet retired after a 20-year career, ending with her 69th consecutive Grand Slam appearance at the French Open. Cornet, who made her debut at Roland Garros in 2005, was defeated by China's Zheng Qinwen in the first round, 6-2, 6-1. The record-breaking consecutive Grand Slam appearances surpassed the previous women's record of 62, set by Japan's Ai Sugiyama.
