The White House announced nearly $900 million in awards for 530 school districts to replace aging, gas-fueled school buses with cleaner, mainly electric models. This funding is the third tranche of a $5 billion allocation over five years through the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Clean School Bus Program, created under the 2021 Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. The EPA rebates will support the purchase of 3,400 school buses, 92% of which will be electric, with 67% of funds allocated to school districts in low-income, tribal, and rural communities.
