84,000 unrepaired Nissan vehicles urged to stop driving due to potentially exploding Takata airbag inflators.

Nissan has urged owners of around 84,000 older vehicles to stop driving them due to an increased risk of exploding Takata airbag inflators, linked to one fatality and 58 injuries since 2015. The "do not drive" warning applies to certain 2002-2006 Sentra small cars, as well as some 2002-2004 Pathfinder SUVs and 2002-2003 Infiniti QX4 SUVs. Nissan has recalled 736,422 of these vehicles in 2020 to replace the Takata inflators, but around 84,000 remain unrepaired and may still be in use.
