Supreme Court of India denies termination of woman's 25-week pregnancy, requesting AIIMS report.
The Supreme Court of India rejected a woman's plea to terminate an over 25-week pregnancy, protecting her privacy with undisclosed reasons. The court requested a report from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on the woman's and fetus' physical condition, which was submitted on May 24. The Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act allows for abortion of a fetus over 24 weeks only in cases of substantial fetal abnormality or to save the life of the pregnant woman.
