Russia and Uzbekistan leaders signed agreements aimed at deepening bilateral relations, including one that envisions Moscow building a small nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan. If implemented, the plant will be the first in Central Asia, increasing Russia's influence in the region. Uzbekistan has its own large reserves of uranium, and Putin promised to work effectively on the country's nuclear energy market.
