2 men face human smuggling charges for allegedly transporting people out of BC on freight trains, according to the US Department of Justice. Jesus Ortiz-Plata, 45, of Oregon, and Juan Pablo Cuellar Medina, 35, of Washington, were arrested last week in Everett, Washington. They allegedly employed an "extremely dangerous smuggling scheme" involving hiding people in freight cars to cross the border. In one case, 29 people were rescued from a freight car filled with plastic pellets.
