Lafayette, Louisiana, has appointed Paul Trouard as the city's interim police chief while a national search is conducted for a permanent replacement. Trouard, with 27 years of law enforcement experience, most recently served as the assistant to the Lafayette Chief of Police. Lafayette Mayor-President Monique Boulet plans to involve a community-based committee and the public in the search process.
