Japan's NRA extends Takahama Nuclear Power Plant reactors 3 & 4's lifespan by 20 years, reaching 60 years in operation.

Japan's Nuclear Regulation Authority (NRA) has granted a 20-year lifespan extension for reactors 3 and 4 at the Takahama Nuclear Power Plant, making them the seventh and eighth reactors to receive approval to operate for an additional 20 years beyond the current 40-year limit. The reactors, currently operational, will reach their 40th anniversaries in 2025. Japan enacted a bill in May 2023 that allows some aged reactors to operate beyond the 60-year limit, despite concerns and criticism.
