UK shop inflation fell to its lowest level in over two years in early May, dropping to 0.6% as retailers cut furniture and TV prices amid a tight household budget and cost-of-living pressures. The British Retail Consortium reported that shop price inflation returned to "normal" levels as prices for non-food products fell by 0.8% for the second consecutive month. Food prices rose by 3.2% in May, down from 3.4% in April.
