1 in 8 pregnant people in Ontario have disabilities, but many face barriers to accessible care and disrespectful attitudes from doctors and other care providers, according to a new report. The study found people with disabilities have been overlooked in reproductive health care due to societal assumptions that they won't have children. Disabled participants reported issues such as lack of accessibility in doctors' offices for those with mobility issues, inadequate sign language interpretation during critical times, and a lack of understanding from healthcare providers about their disabilities.
