New Zealand's Vessev has launched the VS-9, a 10-passenger electric hydrofoil ferry set to become the world's first fully electric hydrofoil craft used for tourism. Partnering with local ferry operator Fullers360, the VS-9 is currently undergoing sea trials out of Auckland and is expected to achieve certification later in the year. Featuring hydrofoil systems inspired by America's Cup teams, the vessel can reach speeds of 25 knots with a range of 50 nautical miles.
