National Archives of India completes first overseas project, digitizing and archiving Indian diaspora documents in Oman (1838-present).

The National Archives of India has completed its first overseas project by digitising and archiving documents of the Indian diaspora in Oman. The Oman Collection project involved 32 prominent Indian families from Gujarat and included over 7,000 documents, dating back to 1838, which provide a vivid narration of the history of the Indian community in Oman. The digitised documents will be archived on the NAI's digital portal and aim to deepen engagement with the Indian diaspora worldwide and preserve the rich heritage and narratives of the diverse overseas Indian community.
