Japan imposes daily climber limit and fee on Mount Fuji's Yoshida Trail due to overtourism and pollution.
Japan introduces new rules to combat overtourism and pollution at popular tourist spots, including Mount Fuji. From July 1 to Sept 10, only 4,000 climbers daily are allowed on the Yoshida Trail on Mt Fuji's Yamanashi side, with a booking fee of ¥2,000 ($19.15) for online slots. The measures aim to reduce overcrowding, littering, and dangerous climbing practices amidst a record-breaking tourism boom.
