A dead humpback whale washed ashore near Manzanita, Oregon, prompting warnings from the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department, Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to avoid the area. The whale, which washed up on the sands of Nehalem Bay State Park, is also a protected area for endangered snowy plovers. NOAA is examining the whale to determine the cause of death.
