Vietnam's Health Minister, Đào Hồng Lan, revealed that tobacco use imposes a societal burden of over $4.24bn annually, including medical costs and fatalities. Despite a decline in regular cigarette use among men, new tobacco use, especially electronic and heated tobacco products, has surged in younger age groups. In response, the Prime Minister has directed relevant ministries and agencies to strengthen measures preventing e-cigarette and heated tobacco product use.
