Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.'s (TSMC) plan to locate some of its chipmaking facilities abroad is seen as "very beneficial" for Taiwan by a senior government official, despite local concerns. TSMC, the world's largest contract chipmaker, will work more closely with customers and recruit top talent due to its international presence, according to Taiwan's Deputy Minister of Economic Affairs C.C. Chen.
