South Korean scientists have developed a method to produce diamonds in just 15 minutes, using a special liquid metal mixture and a combination of methane and hydrogen gas. The breakthrough, published in Science journal Nature, can synthesize diamonds at normal atmospheric pressure without a starter gem. However, the produced diamonds are currently too small for gem use and are suitable only for drilling and polishing.
