A police officer and a suspect were injured in a shootout at Gateway Pub in Hickory, NC early Sunday. Officers responded to multiple gunshots and tried to detain an armed suspect. A second armed suspect opened fire, injuring one officer and prompting another officer to return fire, injuring the second suspect. Both the injured officer and suspect are expected to recover. The NC State Bureau of Investigation is probing the incident, with the involved officer on administrative leave.
