Northwest Kansas to see low-flying helicopter for groundwater survey in the Ogallala aquifer from May-June.
Residents in northwest Kansas can expect to see a low-flying helicopter towing a hexagonal frame from late May to June. The Kansas Geological Survey and Northwest Kansas Groundwater Management District No. 4 are conducting an airborne electromagnetic survey to map groundwater conditions in the Ogallala aquifer. Flights will not occur over residential areas or other sensitive locations.
